SPL has designs on designers

Six
striking images - each playing on a designer theme - are being used to front
the latest advertising campaign by the Science Photo Library. The campaign,
which is being targeted at designers, aims to show the creative potential
of science imagery.

Each
of the six pictures selected has been matched to a "designer" tag. An intriguing
picture of a snail shell is used to illustrate designer homes; a close up
of facial hair shows designer stubble, and for designer babies there is an
image of in vitro fertilisation. Pictures illustrating designer genes, designer
drugs and designer clothes make up the set.
The campaign material has been designed by Richard Adams of Richard Adams
Associates.
Maria Storey, Science Photo Library marketing and communications director,
says: "We wanted to create an advertising campaign that appealed to designers
and showed how SPL images can be used creatively.
"The ads are essentially visual puns and we hope they will bring a smile from
our audience," says Maria Storey.
The Science Photo Library is independent, privately owned and the only one
of its kind in Britain. SPL is renowned for its high quality picture bank
of 120,000 images created by photographers, illustrators, scientists and medical
specialists.
